Road Races ![]() How fast can you run a mile? Find out on Friday evening, August 12, 2011 at the Middlebury Mile Road Run. This race is one of three during the 40th annual Middlebury Summer Festival. It is not your typical mile fun-run. This competitive race is open to runners of all ages and is known for its flat, fast, out-and-back course on Main Street in downtown Middlebury. The Middlebury Mile takes place at 6:30 pm on Friday evening. Registration begins at 5:00 pm at the Middlebury Fire station (117 N Main St). Prizes will be given to the overall male and female winners in the running events. Awards will also be given to the top male and female age group winners in the running events.
Saturday morning, August 13, Middlebury will play host to the second and third running events of the festival. A 10k and 3k race are scheduled to begin at 8:00 am. These races are also on flat, fast courses. Cash awards are available to the overall winners of each race and age-group awards will be given to the remaining participants. For those that do not want to run but like to stay active, a 5k Fitness walk will begin shortly after the road races start. The walk takes participants through the more “scenic” parts of Middlebury, including some nice sized hills! Registration for all of the Saturday morning events begins at 6:30 am at the Middlebury Elementary School (432 S. Main St.). Registration forms: see below. Runners that compete in both the Middlebury Mile and either of the events on Saturday will receive a discount on their entry fee.
